Kocuria

Kocuria is a genus of gram-positive bacteria in the phylum Actinobacteria, class Actinobacteria, order Actinomycetales, sub order Micrococcinae and family Micrococcaceae. Kocuria was discovered by Miroslav Kosur, a Slovakian microbiologist. It has been found in the milk of water deer and reindeer.[3] Kocuria is a genus of coccus shaped bacteria that have morphology resembling Staphylococci and Micrococci; however, with the use of the automated identification system and methods such as 16s rRNA sequencing, Kocuria was identified in 1974. It can be found arranged in pairs, chains, tetrads, cubical arrangements of eight, and irregular clusters. They have rigid cell walls and are either aerobic or facultative anaerobic.[4]
