আলাস্কা ক্রয়

আলাস্কা ক্রয় (ইংরেজি: Alaska Purchase) হচ্ছে ১৮৬৭ সালে রুশ সাম্রাজ্যের কাছ থেকে যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের আলাস্কা ভূখণ্ড ক্রয়। এই ক্রয়টি সম্পাদিত হয় যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের তৎকালীন পররাষ্ট্রমন্ত্রী উইলিয়াম এইচ. স্টুয়ার্ডের আদেশে। আদেশানুযায়ী ১৮৬৭ সালের ৩০ মার্চ আলাস্কার ৫,৮৬,৪১২ বর্গ মাইল ভূখণ্ড মার্কিন যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের ভূসীমায় যোগ হয়। পরবর্তীতে আধুনিক যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের একটি প্রদেশ হিসেবে আত্মপ্রকাশের পূর্বে আলাস্কার নাম ছিলো যথাক্রমে ডিপার্টমেন্ট অফ আলাস্কা, ডিস্ট্রিক্ট অফ আলাস্কা, এবং আলাস্কা টেরিটরি। ১৯৫৯ সালে আলাস্কা যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের একটি অঙ্গরাজ্য হিসেবে যুক্ত হয়। এই ক্রয় চুক্তিটি সারারাতব্যাপী একটি আলোচনার পর ৩০ মার্চ, ১৮৬৭-এর সকাল ৪টায় স্বাক্ষরিত হয়,[1] এবং প্রতি একর ১.৯ সেন্ট হিসেবে (প্রতি বর্গ কিলোমিটার ৪.৭৪ ডলার) মোট মূল্য নির্ধারিত হয় প্রায় ৭২ লক্ষ মার্কিন ডলার।[2]

A simple consumer price index calculation would put this at the equivalent of around one hundred million dollars in 2007; however, given the scale of the project, it would be more appropriate to consider the cost as a fraction of the national wealth, in which case it would be the equivalent of around eleven billion dollars today. Considered as a fraction of government expenditure, it would be even larger; the federal government in 1867 had a far smaller budget as a proportion of GDP than it does today, and so the Alaska Purchase represented a more significant investment to the government than the figure of eleven billion dollars would suggest.
