Background

  • Unstable if:
    • Associated neurologic deficits
    • Loss of >50% of vertebral body height
    • >20 degrees of spinal angulation
    • Compromise of >50% of spinal canal
    • Axial compression > nucleus pulposus forced into vertebral body
