ATSDR to offer urine arsenic retests in Hayden & Winkelman, AZ

(Hayden & Winkelman, Arizona) - ATLANTA – The Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR) will offer urine arsenic retests to residents of Hayden and Winkelman, Arizona who participated in blood lead and urine arsenic testing in 2015. The retest will help ATSDR determine if area residents have abnormal levels of arsenic in their bodies when air pollution levels are typical for the community.  ATSDR staff will be in Hayden and Winkelman October 25 – 29, 2017.

ATSDR invites public comment on reports for two former DOD sites on St. Lawrence Island, Alaska
Tuesday, August 01, 2017
(Nome County, St Lawrence Island, Alaska) - ATLANTA – The Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR), a federal public health agency and sister agency of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), is seeking public comment from residents of St. Lawrence Island, on two draft health consultation reports for Gambell and Northeast Cape on St. Lawrence Island. ATSDR will accept written comments on the draft health consultation report through September 30, 2017.

ATSDR to offer FREE blood lead testing in Iola

(Allen County, Iola, Kansas) - ATLANTA – The Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR), a federal public health agency and sister agency of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), will conduct free blood lead testing on August 3 through August 6, 2017 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. CT at Iola High School, 300 E. ATSDR releases results of Hayden and Winkelman, AZ, Exposure Investigation and invites community to public meeting

(Hayden and Winkelman, Arizona) - ATLANTA, GA – The Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR), a federal public health agency, recently released its report, Exposure Investigation - Biological Testing for Exposure to Lead and Arsenic near the Asarco Hayden Smelter Site in Hayden and Winkelman, Arizona. The report finds that some children in Hayden and Winkelman have been exposed to lead at levels that could harm their health.

ATSDR Releases Final VOCs and Metal Exposures from Air Emissions in Media Other than Air Public Health Report in Midlothian, TX

Federal agency to discuss Camp Lejeune health activities at public meetings on January 21
Wednesday, January 04, 2017
(Jacksonville, North Carolina) - (Atlanta)-- The Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR) invites the public to hear from the scientists who conducted public health activities to understand the impact of exposure to contaminated drinking water at U.S. Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune in North Carolina. The scientists will discuss these public health activities during a 5 p.m. special session, followed by a public meeting at 6 p.m. on January 21, 2017, in Jacksonville, NC. The Community Assistance Panel (CAP) meeting also will take place on January 21 at 9:00 a.m.; that meeting is also open to the public. Representatives from the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) will be present at the meetings to answer questions about the VA programs for those exposed at Camp Lejeune.
