Petrolia, Pa. Residents Invited to Public Availability Session

The Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR), a public health agency of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, will host a public availability session in Petrolia, Pa. A public availability session is an informal meeting where community members can talk confidentially, one-on-one with ATSDR staff about their health concerns regarding possible exposures to contaminants from the site.

ATSDR's public availability session will be held:

Tuesday, July 15
4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Petrolia Volunteer Fire Hall
200 Argyle St.
Petrolia, Pa.

ATSDR will hold this availability session to discuss the process for a public health assessment it will conduct at the Bear Creek Chemical Area site. Community members can drop in at any time during the session. It is an opportunity for community members to discuss any health concerns they feel may be associated with the Bear Creek Chemical Area site.

This session also is an opportunity to learn more about ATSDR and its role in preventing or reducing the harmful effects of exposure to hazardous substances. Attendance is open to the public, although individual conversations with ATSDR staff will be confidential.

The Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR) will hold a public availability session followed by a community meeting on Sept. 7 to discuss the findings from the public health assessment on the Bear Creek Chemical Area site in Butler and Armstrong Counties, Pa. The public availability session is designed to allow community members to meet individually with ATSDR representatives to discuss concerns about potentially site-related health issues. The session will be held at the Petrolia Volunteer Fire Hall, 200 Argyle Street in Petrolia, 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
