ಹಾವುಗಳ ಪಳೆಯುಳಿಕೆಗಳು ದೊರೆಯುವುದು ಅಪರೂಪ.ದೊರೆತ ಪಳೆಯುಳಿಕೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಹಳೆಯದು ಎಂದರೆ ಸುಮಾರು ೧೧೨ ರಿಂದ ೯೪ ಮಿಲಿಯ ವರ್ಷಗಳಷ್ಟು ಪ್ರಾಚೀನವಾದುದು.[1] ಶರೀರಶಾಸ್ತ್ರದ ಅಧ್ಯಯನದಿಂದ ಹಾವುಗಳು ಹಲ್ಲಿಗಳ ಜಾತಿಯಿಂದ ಉಗಮವಾಗಿರುತ್ತವೆ.
