California Northstate University College of Medicine

California Northstate University College of Medicine (CNUCOM) is a private for-profit medical school located in Elk Grove, California and is one of the four colleges of California Northstate University. The college of medicine was approved by the WASC in August 2013 (although it is no longer listed as WASC approved[1]) and gained preliminary accreditation in June 2015 by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (which is currently listed as provisional with a next survey date being 2020-2021[2]).

Joseph Silva, MD, currently serves as the Dean of Medicine. CNUCOM enrolled its first class of 60 students in August 2015. The college of medicine grants the degree of Doctor of Medicine (MD). California Northstate University College of Medicine has a mission in educating students to become competent, patient-centered healthcare professionals. Education will be provided using an innovative, integrated basic and medical science system-based curriculum. Service will be encouraged with faculty supervised service learning clinics. Scholarship will be encouraged with hypothesis driven Self-Directed Student Scholarly Research. History

California Northstate University (CNU) COM is a new institution established following the College of Pharmacy in 2008.[3] CNUCOM enrolled its first class of 60 students in August 2015,[4] and its second class of 90 students in August 2016.[5] CNUCOM is dedicated to educating, developing, and training physicians to help with the primary care physician shortage in Northern California.[6] CNU has a College of Health Sciences for undergraduates with a combined BS/MD program[7] as well as a pre-med post-Baccalaureate program.[8]

California Northstate University College of Medicine is affiliated with Kaiser Permanente of Northern California, Dignity Health hospitals (former affiliation; California Nortstate University College of Medicine is no longer listed as an affiliate[9]), and Sutter Health Hospitals.

On Dec 20, 2018, the California Northstate University Medical Center was announced. It is expected to open in 2022, in Elk Grove, with 250 beds and a level 2 trauma center in the ER. This $750 million project is expected to generate 24,000 jobs and $4.04 billion over the next 10 years. (7)
